NEW THEATRE COMPANY MOVES TO ROUND ROCK

Penfold Theatre Company presents The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) in the Round Rock Amphitheater August 5-22.

In this free event, the whole family will enjoy watching three phenomenal actors as they compress the complete works of Shakespeare into 90 minutes of high-speed, over-the-top hilarity! Knowledge of Shakespeare's works is helpful, but not at all necessary. Bring a picnic blanket and come with us on a fast-paced romp as we celebrate (and abuse) the Bard's beloved cannon!

The production is Penfold Theatre Company's first to present in the area it hopes to make its long term home: the neighborhoods of north Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park and Leander. After two award-winning seasons in downtown Austin, the company is moving northward thanks to a partnership with the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department, as well as help from its newly expanded Board of Directors, which includes leaders from the Round Rock City Council, Round Rock and Pflugerville ISDs, Greater Round Rock Area Arts Council and other notable organizations.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is also the kickoff to Penfold's 2010-11 season.

Every show will be preceded by a special performance by guest artists like the Round Rock Symphony,
the Round Rock Communty Choir, the Baron's Men, and many others.

Penfold Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to opening and operating a professional theatre in the north Austin metro area. It is the first professional theatre specifically dedicated to serving the over 350,000 residents in north Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Georgetown and Leander.

In its 2009-10 season, Penfold artists took home three Austin Critics Table Awards (Actor in a Lead Role, Actor in a Supporting Role, Musical Production) on top of eight other nominations. In 2010-11, the company will be producing its largest season to date, consisting of three mainstage productions (The Complete Works..., Going with Jenny, The Lion in Winter), as well as a new class series to launch in October.
