Super Series baseball back

In the Sports Capital of Texas, fall baseball starts with a bang. Super Series Labor Day Lounger is a weekend
tournament for young athletes to get their cleats dirty and broken in for a brand new season.
All U8-U14 American, National, and Minor Divisions will play at Champion Fields in Old Settlers Park on Labor Day
weekend.

Professional groups

The National Association of Sports Commissions elected Nancy Yawn to its board of directors as the marketing committee co-chair. Yawn is the director of the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Texas Board of Legal Specialization elected Julie Ann Springer to its board of directors. Springer is a partner with the Austin law firm Scott, Douglass & McConnico LLP.

The driving force behind marketing the City of Round Rock repositioned itself this year in a new location in the center of downtown.

City officials hope the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau office—with its central setting and modern décor—will offer visitors an updated glimpse of what the city has to offer.

The CVB moved into the building in March following the demolition of its old location at 120 S. Brown St. to make way for the city’s new transit center.

At the Round Rock Convention an Visitors Bureau, our goal is to hit a home run for our citizens every day by hosting visitors in the Sports Capital of Texas. Tourism benefits you in a number of ways:

* Total direct travel spending in Round Rock for International and domestic travelers totaled $215.8 Million in 2009.

* State and local tax revenues directly generated by travel spending were approximately $19.2 Million in 2009.

* The tax revenue generated from visitors helps to improve infrastructure, add services and keep property taxes low.

When I first came to Round Rock in 2007 I was all about the Rock.

Round Rock Dragons, Round Rock Donuts and the big piece of granite (hey I'm no geologist) jutting out of Brushy Creek.

But once I saw it, maybe even allegedly climbed on it and took a picture or two - the glow kind of faded.

So, what was a guy to do whose image of the entire community had been shaped by Rock imagery as an undergrad at UT? For a while I was afraid I would have no inspiration, that my muse was dead.
